- 1 large sweet onion
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup water
- Oil in a spray bottle
Instructions
- Prepare the onion by cutting off the top and peeling the skin. Create downward cuts to form petals.
- Let the onion sit cut-side up for about 5 minutes.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, paprika, cayenne, and seasonings. In another bowl, mix eggs, milk, and water.
- Coat the onion with the flour mixture, dip in egg wash, then coat again in flour.
- Chill in the refrigerator while preheating the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Spray the onion with oil and air fry for about 25 minutes, spraying with oil every few minutes.
- Carefully remove from the fryer and season before serving.
