  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit until foamy.
  2. Add salt, oil, and two cups of flour; mix well. Gradually add the remaining flour until soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth, then let rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for one hour.
  4. Punch down the dough and divide it into 16 pieces. Shape each into a rope and create slits on either side for the bone effect.
  5. Place on a greased baking sheet and let rise again for about 45 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F during the last ten minutes of rising. Bake breadsticks for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan before serving warm with marinara sauce.
