- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons warm water
- 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- 3 tablespoons canola oil
- 3–3¼ cups flour
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- ½ teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
Instructions
- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit until foamy.
- Add salt, oil, and two cups of flour; mix well. Gradually add the remaining flour until soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough until smooth, then let rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for one hour.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 16 pieces. Shape each into a rope and create slits on either side for the bone effect.
- Place on a greased baking sheet and let rise again for about 45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 425°F during the last ten minutes of rising. Bake breadsticks for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan before serving warm with marinara sauce.
